What is ONEWOOD and what are the physical properties of this material? 

ONEWOOD is a homogeneous reconstituted timber where sustainable plantation wood fibers are treated in the fibrous level and then reconstituted with high heat and pressure into a large block of usable hardwood material. 

The beauty of the reconstituted timber not only lies in its natural wood look and feel, yet has enhanced properties as compared to hardwood such as water resistance, rot resistance, termite resistance and exceptional durability and dimensional stability. 

Furthermore, it can be treated and processed just like natural timber - where sanding or processing it still reveals natural wood grains.

Is it necessary for the Forestone Wood Bench to be sealed with wood varnish?

For it's outdoor durability performance, there is no need to seal the Forestone Wood Bench as the material has been treated homogeneously. 

When placed outdoors, the bench will eventually weather to natural grey patina with surface checks / cracks just like natural timber. 

Sealing the Forestone Wood Bench would provide additional protection and if a different colour is selected, it would be for aesthetic purpose. 

Care & Maintenance

The Forestone Wood Bench requires minimal maintenance. Normal housekeeping and care such as cleaning it regularly using wet cloth and mild soap would be sufficient. 

Do not use strong cleaning agents on the bench as it may cause discolouration / bleaching effects. 

Seasonal Maintenance: 
After the bench has weathered to grey, a simple sanding down would reveal a fresh layer of wood and it would look like new. 

Adding a coat of wood varnish could enhance it's look once again. 

 
Is Forestone Wood Bench a green product and suitable for interior use?

The material, ONEWOOD, has been awarded with Excellent score in Singapore Green Building Product accreditation. It is safe for interior use.
